The Sam Barlow Theater Department has had an eventful past few weeks from the Northeast Regionals Acting Festival, the Winter One-Act Showcase, to the Mt. Hood Conference One-Act Festival.
Sam Barlow theater students had great success in the Regional Acting Festival on February 3rd, 2024. Fourteen Barlow-led performances made it to State and four of the performers were awarded regional finalists. Barlow was the triumphant high school at the competition as it had the most students who qualified for state!

On Thursday, February 8th, Sam Barlow hosted the Winter One-Act Festival, a competition among solely the Barlow theater department.“A Case for Two Spies” was performed by Jade Matheny, Mason O’Brien, Nico Spillett, Callie Waibel, Isabelle Jensen, Madeleine Dewes, Grant Cynor-Ford, Avery Peter, Tristan Sanderson, and Jade Matheny and was directed by Samantha Stanberry. “An Inspector Answers” was performed by Spencer Neighorn, Noah Feldman-Parks, Josie Williams, Kya Halligan, and Elijah Woodard and directed by Izzy O’Brien.
On Saturday, February 10th, Sam Barlow Theater participated in and hosted the Mt. Hood Conference One-Act Festival where a group of students (mentioned above) performed the student-directed piece “A Case For Two Spies” where Nico Spillett won an award for his performance as Agent 145 ½.
