At one point, not a single duck was hidden in the choir room. Now, there are rubber ducks hidden all throughout the room. With a current collection of 58 ducks, the choir students plan on filling the room with as many ducks as they can. But how did this collection come to be?
It all started out with Nico Spillett, who is currently a sophomore, and Ms. Adina. When Ms. Adina supplied Nico with a few rubber ducks in March of 2023, he didn’t know what to do with them. So, he decided to put them on top of the cabinets in the choir room. After being supplied with more rubber ducks, he added a couple more. The initial goal was for a couple of kids to notice them and get a chuckle out of it, but it quickly spiraled out of control with students adding rubber ducks of all sizes to the collection. Mrs. Schroeder, the choir teacher, immediately knew Spillett was the one to start the collection due to his particularly guilty look that day. One of the ducks she highlighted was the Cowardly Lion, gifted from the Munchkins from our theatre’s most recent production, The Wizard of Oz. Ms. Adina has been known to continuously supply the freshman choir students in her classes with rubber ducks to add to the collection. Now, the goal is to continue growing the collection through student and teacher contributions. Today, the choir room is filled with countless rubber ducks that add to the amazing atmosphere found there.
