This year, Barlow has a student teacher in the Social Studies department. His name is Mr. Slowik, and he teaches Global Perspectives and US History alongside Mr. Dougharity. He is the only student teacher we have this year at Sam Barlow.

He is currently attending George Fox University in the teaching program to receive his license and degree. He loves it at Barlow so far and is enjoying teaching here, but he said, ”It’s not at all what I thought teaching highschool here would be, but I love it and love the change. Im having fun teaching my students.”

The reason he chose to teach history is that he has always had an interest in the subject and always liked the history and learning about the old stories and what has happened in the past and what has changed since then.

A little about him: He has four cats, loves movies, and his favorite movie is Lord Of The Rings. He also enjoys playing video games. He is getting married soon and will spend his honeymoon in Egypt.

His plans for the future are to travel all over the world and end up finding a good job teaching. He also would love to pursue  his education and get his master’s degree in teaching and end up with a good job teaching.
