The 2024 girls’ soccer team is well-assembled, standing 7-0 so far. Head coach Jay Jacobson and assistant coach Andrew Toth are leading the team to first place in the Mt. Hood conference.

Senior goalkeeper, #9 Kassidy Waibel said, “It feels great to be undefeated so far, especially going after some harder teams.” She keeps herself motivated for games by knowing that in the end, it will be a fun experience to look back on. Waibel said that if she had any advice for people wanting to start soccer she would say to never give up and love the game. Her number one supporters are her parents, who have always been there for her.

Freshman defender #20 Emma Doyle, and Junior defender #6 Olivia West both feel confident for the season and lucky to be a part of the team. Doyle has been playing soccer for 7 years, West has been playing for 12 years. Doyle plays left outside back and keeps herself motivated by reminding herself how she wants to play in college one day. If she had advice to give to anybody wanting to play in the future she says, “Just try it! The worst thing that could happen is that you don’t like it, but at least try.” Her top supporters are definitely her parents, they are always there and supporting her through her soccer journey. West on the other hand plays center back and left outside. She keeps herself motivated by having the support of her teammates, friends, and family. She is supported by her boyfriend and her dad. If she had any advice to give to anybody wanting to play soccer she said, “Be confident in trying something new, and to be excited.”

Sophomore forward #13 Kylie Asher, and Senior forward #9 Katya Tercek have both played soccer since they were 3 years old. Sophomore forward, Asher, feels really good about being undefeated so far and she hopes to keep it that way. She never really got inspired to play soccer, one day her mom signed her up. At first she hated it, but then she started to love it so she stuck with it. Asher was asked who her number one supporter was and she replied by saying, “My dad, he has been there for me and goes to every game and cheers loud. He pushes me every day, and is there for me during the hard times.” Asher was also asked if she had any advice for people wanting to start soccer and she said, “Just do it, and have fun and it will be good.” She plays forward mainly on the wings. The Senior forward Tercek feels really good about going undefeated because this is the most games they have won in a row during preseason since she’s been on the team. Tercek was inspired by her family because they all played soccer but especially her dad. He loves it the most, she says it’s an important thing in their family. She keeps herself motivated by remembering what it feels like to win and how great it is to be a part of the team. Tercek was asked who her number one supporter is and she replied by saying, “My older sister Natalie who comes to all the games she can, and always motivates me to do/ be better.” Her advice for anybody wanting to play soccer is to just practice as much as possible, especially on your own time because that is what helps make a difference.

The team has held the Mt. Hood Conference title for a total of 6 years, hoping and pushing to make this their 7th. The girls are putting in work every day to win and it’s definitely paying off.
