Do you know those blue recycling bins around the school? Those bins hold all of the cans that may change someone’s life. The College and Career Center collects the cans in these blue bins, and all the money collected from the cans is used to pay for scholarships Barlow seniors can apply for. These cans are collected weekly and turned in to the bottle drop on Saturdays. There are multiple types of scholarships that they give away. Last year, they gave out nine $500 scholarships. Although they would love to give as many as possible, they hope to give at least ten $500 scholarships this year. Last year, they made $4,500 and hope to make more this year.

These scholarships are for hardworking students. The application opens up in the spring as a Google form with questions about how you are a hardworking student and an essay in the Google form about the same topic. How can you help? Only put cans and bottles in the blue recycling bins. Don’t put food or garbage in these bins; the College and Career Center goes through and collects them themselves. You can also bring cans from home or any cans you have directly to the College and Career Center, and they will be set aside for the scholarship. You can do your part and help make this incredible scholarship opportunity possible for your Sam Barlow seniors today!
