Boys Basketball

Boys basketball is off to a great start, winning their first two games and dominating at the Boys Basketball Tournament. They hope to have a successful season. In the previous state tournament, the Bruins placed fourth. Brayden Barron, a senior boy basketball player, said, “My hopes for the season is to be Mt. Hood conference champions and to beat Central Catholic this year in the state championship. I’m looking forward to playing Gresham, Central Catholic, and Clackamas this year. I’ve been playing for around 13 years but started to take the sport seriously my sophomore year of high school.”

Girls Basketball

After losing some key players last season, our girl’s basketball team is still trying to find their footing this year. Sophomore guard Aubrey Heath said, “I’m really excited for this season and for us to grow as a team. Our end goal is to win or place second in the conference in addition to making it to playoffs. I’ve been playing since kindergarten and am looking forward to our game against Nelson this year.”

Boys Wrestling

Boys wrestling is off to a fantastic start at the dual meet at David Douglas, winning 68-12. Sophomore wrestler Leon Richard said, “I’ve been wrestling for 11 years. My goal for the season is to win state and go to nationals. I am most looking forward to my state finals match.”

This is my 5th season wrestling, and I’m looking forward to seeing our girl’s program grow and have a full team. It’s a great sport, and I have high hopes for this season.”

Girls Swimming

Girls swimming is starting strong, winning against Nelson for the first meet. Junior Maya Enns said, “I’ve been swimming for 3 years. After doing swim team freshman year, I got into water polo and met a lot of my friends. My goals for the season are to swim my best and maintain a good attitude.”

Boys Swimming

The boys swimming lost in a close competition against Nelson; however, they are ready to make a comeback against Sandy. Junior Powell Jacob says, “My personal goal for the season is to drop my 100-yard freestyle time to below 50 seconds. I am most looking forward to the district meet because it has the highest stakes. I walked on freshman year and fell in love with the sport.”
