Forecasting in high school is essential for planning the best academic path and helping students choose classes that best suit their interests and goals. Forecasting tells your counselor what classes you would like and need to take next school year. They will use that information to create the best schedule for you. This is important so students can achieve their goals, graduate, and make long-term plans such as college or career paths.

Counselors have outlined the schedule for presentations, form submissions, and individual meetings for all grade levels. Juniors will have their presentations on Friday, February 14th, in Their US History classes.  Sophomores- Monday, February 25th, in their Pre-AP English 2 classes. Freshman- Thursday. February 27th in their Physical Science Classes.

This presentation will show students how to forecast and what is needed to complete it successfully to have the classes they want and need for next year and show students what they need to do. Juniors turn in forecasting forms on Monday, February 24th, during Advisory. Both second and first-year students turn in forms on Monday, March 3rd, in Advisory.

Sam Barlow High School offers a variety of classes to choose from. Forecasting for the right electives is essential for the new year. If you are interested in a specific class but don’t know a lot about it or don’t know if this class would be a good fit for you, then talk to the teacher who teaches the class, ask other students who have taken that class, or ask your counselor, because choosing electives that spark your interest in essential for academic success.

All students will have an individual meeting with their counselors to talk about forecasting. Juniors will have their meetings from March 3rd through the 9th, Sophomores from March 10th through the 14th, and Freshmen from March 17th through the 21st. This meeting is to discuss what classes students will take next year and to ensure that students are on track to graduate.

Counselors can also provide students with personal guidance based on their academic performance and interests. They help students understand how their course choices align with their graduation requirements and long-term plans.

The counselor you will meet with depends on your last name. Ms. Morris with A-Co, Ms. Boelow is Cp-Ha, Mr. Quirke is Hb-Mc, Mr Rethwill with Md-Sa, and Ms Ninneman with Sb-Z.
