Junior Nico Spillett is going to state for Theatre in Duo Dramatic Acting and Large Group Acting. Duo Dramatic is a two-person acting routine. Spillet’s acting piece is Red, in which he is performing with Spencer Neighorn. In the piece, Spillet plays an angry painter with Neighorn playing his assistant, and Spillett gets mad and Spencer fights back. Spillett says he likes the piece because, “I get to yell at the top of my lungs.” The other performance he is doing with others is a Large Group Acting piece, with a 16-person group all singing and acting. The piece they are doing is Skid Row. in which Spillett plays a drowsy and stumbling drunk which he described as fun.
Other than what Spillett is doing in state, he is also active doing things in class and working for the new plays coming. In his theatre class, they have been creating a short film called Superpals 2: Super Hard, and in this film, Spillett plays an evil robot grandma. Hadestown is coming back to Barlow, and rehearsals have started again, with Spillett describing Hadestown as his favorite show so far in Barlow. There also is another play coming to Barlow in the spring called Our Town, and Spillett is excited about this play as well. Spillett has accomplished much during his time in theatre, and says he is excited for his senior year and his future there, as well as what his peers are going to do in Barlow theatre as well.
