There are no requirements, just good vibes. You can show up for fun times, great conversations, and a family of friends. If you are seeking extra love throughout your life, these groups can give you a support system of loving people. All of these clubs offer a Christ-centered community.
Kairos
This club meets on Wednesdays during lunch, usually in the Black Box Theater. However, location can vary, so check their Instagram (@kairos_lunch_club) for updates. At Kairos, you can find pizza, good conversation, good people, and fun discussions. Topics can start off from a question, a quote, or some scripture.
Younglife
Young Life takes place on Sundays from 7-8:30 PMat Razz Ranch, and offers friends, chatting, games, food, and refreshments. You can show up, play, and hang out while enjoying rotating meals, snacks, and drinks. After that, there is a group game where everyone can participate and have fun. Following the game, students join in club talk on the fun couches and chairs. Once club talk is over, there is more time to meet new people and socialize with friends. Cassidy Sippel, an attendee of Young Life, says, “You should go to Young Life if you are looking for a place to be connected and build your faith, my favorite part is hanging out with friends and sharing a meal together.” If you want to get connected with Young Life or find the address for the next meeting, you can message them on Instagram (@barlow_younglife).
Young Life Lunches
The lunch club is an unstructured time to connect with each other and leaders. You can join in on Young Life without having to overcome the obstacle of time or driving because they meet here at school. This club meets in room 705 during first and second lunches on select Fridays twice a month. To find more information, visit the Young Life Instagram (@barlow_younglife). Student leader Aubrey Heath tells me, “The Community is inviting and friendly, there is a good support system of people, and there is always someone to talk to.”
FCA
FCA stands for Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This Christian-based club meets Tuesdays at 6:45 in Mr. Pate’s room, 515, with donuts, good friends, and a great message. You can always check their Instagram (@fcabarlow) for updates and reminders. The morning starts with a lesson-based topic
Maria Knifong, an FCA student leader, shares why you should go to FCA, stating, “Students should go to FCA to gain a better understanding of practical christian beliefs and to find and grow with a community.” She says, “It’s a great way to start my morning, I love the donuts, and I’ve built up solid friendships as a result of going.”
Prayer meetings
This is a small group of people who meet in Mrs. Pate’s room, 705, on Mondays and Fridays at 7:15 AM, before the first bell. There is a passage read and discussed. The group then spends some time in prayer to talk with God. This group is a wonderful way to begin and end the week.
