Sam Barlow’s “Senior Assassin” game started on April 1 for current seniors. The object of the game is to eliminate your target without getting eliminated. Players use water guns for attacking and floaties/goggles for protection. Each player puts $5-10 of money into the pot to win it back by being the sole survivor. Unless a purge is called, players can only see their target’s location on the Splashin’ app, which updates every ten minutes unless they purchase an upgrade giving them live locations at all times. When a purge is called, no one is safe from elimination; everyone can see everyone’s location, and floaties no longer grant immunity. The current pot up for grabs is over one thousand dollars, and only grows with every revive purchased.
Revives cost $15 and can only be purchased once, as long as players reach out to the admin within 15 minutes. The last day to buy a revive is on May 5. Any revives will be discontinued on May 9, with no exceptions, to keep the game moving. Along with revives, players can purchase other upgrades. For instance, a vanish removes your location from the map for up to eight hours. A trace allows you to see when someone is checking your location specifically. Immunity protects you from being eliminated for a specific period.
There are rules to the game, though. Safety floaties and goggles must be worn appropriately and visibly. Only water guns can be used. You must video the entire elimination and send it to @2025sbhsassassin on Instagram for it to be valid. Students are encouraged to use their common sense when partaking in the game, and not use things such as realistic-looking squirt guns. Places like church, school events, ports practices, and school property during school hours are off-limits for eliminations.
Here are some students’ anonymous thoughts on the game:
“Super fun, and you hang out with people you wouldn’t normally. So many fun, random late-night excursions.”
“Senior assassin has been fun so far, going out with a plan with my friends, trying to get out ‘targets’ is a core memory Also, going out during purges is exciting. So far I have 2 kills, I’m not doing too bad.”
“I’ve enjoyed playing Senior Assassin. I haven’t gotten any kills but I have been scouting out. I am also glad that no one has tried to shoot me but every time there is a purge I’m a little on edge. I wear my floaties all the time cause it’s fun but it’s always kinda silly seeing all the weird looks. I like how you can see every person’s elimination because it’s funny to watch.”
“So far I’m really liking Senior Assassin. It’s hard to get targets that just stay home all the time — people like me — but there’s not a solution for that. As far as feedback, I think too many people came in too late so for future games maybe ban people from joining past the first round. Overall this game has been fun so far and I’m excited to keep playing.”
