Summer is coming up fast. Summer is the season of sunshine, outdoor fun, adventure, and, of course, vacations. Barlow’s summer break starts June 4 for seniors and June 12 for all other grades. We return to school on September 2 for incoming freshmen and September 3 for everyone else.
Vacations are a great time for relaxation, adventure, and creating memories with friends and family. As the school year fades into memory and the days get longer, the sandy beach and the open road calls. But with so many places to choose from, choosing where to spend those precious vacation days can be tricky and overwhelming, especially when it comes to finding the perfect place to spend time with your family and friends.
Whether you want to go somewhere warm or cold, somewhere where you can relax or somewhere where you can do activities, somewhere expensive or cheap, the most important thing is to enjoy the experience.
Some popular warmer places people often like to visit during their summer break include national parks like the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone, beach destinations like Hawaii and the Outer Banks, and cities such as Las Vegas and San Diego. For international travel, Italy, Greece, and Bali are frequently chosen. Each of these places offers many fun and new experiences, depending on what you’re looking to do.
Consider visiting mountain destinations like Iceland, San Francisco, or the US Mountain States for cooler summer vacations. There is a mix of activities to do, like shopping, hiking, and more.
If you or your family are looking for vacation spots for this summer that are cheaper or are here in Oregon, so you don’t have to travel far. Some ideas are the Oregon Coast. You can hang out on the beaches, go into town and shop, have a nice dinner, explore the tide pools, and maybe even spot whales. If you’re more adventurous, you can explore iconic landmarks like Haystack Rock and the Devil’s Punchbowl, to immerse yourself in nature at state parks like Ecola State Park and the Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor. You can also enjoy hiking scenic trails, visiting aquariums, and exploring historical sites.
The next place is Bend. Bend is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, known for its natural beauty and community spirit, and is great for adventurous people. You can hike, bike, and float down the Deschutes River. A perfect city for your family and friends to visit is Sisters, where you can stay in hotels, campsites, or rent a house. You can hang out and find some fun activities nearby. You can go into town and visit many cool shops and restaurants, and support a smaller town.
Another fun place is Crater Lake National Park. It has amazing views—it’s unreal. It’s a bit of a drive for some people, but it’s worth it for the stunning scenery and unique, easy, or challenging hikes, depending on your skill and interest level.
No matter where or what type of summer vacation you choose, you can find some fun things to do while visiting fun vacation spots you and your friends and family will love, so you can create the best fun-filled memories with loved ones.
