As we head further into fall, Halloween is inching closer. While many will enjoy trick-or-treating, scary movies, and perhaps eating too much candy, it may be time for a new tradition for high school students. Many feel that they are aging out of trick-or-treating, but still want the same thrill they got when they were younger. In hopes of finding a new Halloween attraction that is more age-appropriate, a team of Sam Barlow students gave Fear PDX a try.
Fear PDX is an exciting attraction that appeals to a wide range of age groups. It offers 12 haunted attractions, comprising five featured haunted houses, five scare zones throughout the park, and two bonus mini haunted houses. Five main houses are all put into one long experience. Fear PDX said there are new and improved updates on the 2025 season. “New digitally-enhanced actor scares have been added to push your fear limits! All new immersive audio and lighting effects are included. The Fear PDX Haunted House employs more than twice as many live characters as any other Northwest area haunted attraction. We have added 15 new animatronics for our 2025 season. One is over 22 feet tall! In addition to our 5 Featured Haunted Houses, two new mini-haunts have been added to our 2025 season to keep the screams going.” Fear PDX also offers pictures with monsters before you go in. Their stores are fully stocked with all-new merchandise.
All these fun and new attractions come together when you purchase your ticket.

Emma Doyle, a sophomore here at Barlow, who was a part of the group that went to Fear PDX, says, “I would recommend this place for other people, and it was a great experience for a group of friends to go and have some fun. My experience was great, the scare actors really committed to their parts and made it feel real. My favorite part was how long the house was. My least favorite part was that they were the same houses and rooms as last year. I would say that it is worth it to get out there and experience it if you’re willing to spend the money.”
