Midge Collins

College and Career Center

Mr. Bhear recognized her work in putting together Career Day.

Mrs. Collins supports students in finding work during high school and helps them explore career paths aside from a four-year college plan, showing students a broad spectrum of career options from trades to colleges or wherever their needs need to be met. A big part of her job is working with her fast-track students to successfully prepare to enter an apprenticeship after high school. This job requires lots of planning, including scheduling, investigation, research, and working with people in the community, students, and staff members. Her favorite part of working at Barlow is being here as a support for students and getting to experience their excitement, seeing the looks on student’s faces as she gets to be a big part of their future plans, and seeing students grow into fantastic adults. Some fun facts about Mrs. Collins: She owns a hobby bar in Boring, she has rescued animals, she doesn’t mind making a fool of herself if it means having fun, and she says, “I’m still a child at heart. And ridiculously clumsy.”

Part of her job is driving the little bus. Although it initially scared Mrs. Collins, she proudly got her license and overcame her fear! Good Job!

Activities Director

Mr. Bhear recognized Mrs. Anderson for her hard work in putting together the activities for the school.

Mrs. Anderson has two parts to her job and takes on a lot of roles. One of those is a teacher who teaches Exploring Leadership and Student Council. Mrs. Anderson is responsible for being a Barlow representative to the district regarding advisory. She is in charge of making sure we get the information we need to know on Mondays. The second part of her job is to oversee all activities and clubs.  She helps make Barlow not just school but fun. Mrs. Anderson and her team plan our dances, holiday weeks, and assemblies. She likes the planning of these events to be mainly student-led. However, she is the one to oversee the budget and overall idea, helping the students bring their vision to life. She shared that one of her favorite parts of her job is being able to see how rewarding it is for her students when a vision comes to life, seeing it from the very beginning of the process, starting as an idea to becoming an exceptional event bringing so many smiles to both those who participate but most of all those behind the scenes in making it happen. Her role is to build a sense of community by helping her students with these adventures and making them proud of their school.
