Barlow Boys Varsity head basketball coach Tom Johnson “TJ” hit 700 wins on Friday, January 31st, with a 91-46 win over Reynolds. According to OSAA, the Barlow Boys basketball team currently hosts the number one state ranking in high school basketball! TJ has become the fourth coach in state history to win 700 career games. Coach TJ says, “It’s an honor to hit 700 wins, but the players and the team are important. It’s not what the program has done in the past, but what is being done right now.”
He is currently paying attention to what is happening in the program and with the team rather than the future. What’s most important is where they are at the end of the year. He is honored that people have sent compliments, but TJ is focused on the team and players. TJ said that if he had a favorite memory throughout his basketball career, there would be “too many to recall.”
The Boys Varsity basketball team has pushed and put in a lot of effort this season to be number one in the state. TJ loves the relationships he has been able to forge with the players.
