Mr. Naemura (NY-MUR-AH) is the new face in the math hall, teaching Algebra 1 in room 210. Originally from Gresham, Oregon, he graduated from Reynolds High School and South Dakota University in 2012. Mr. Naemura finished school with an education in math and physics. He taught math and physics in Japan from 2014-2023. If you know some Japanese, challenge Mr. Naemura with some sentences.

He returned to Oregon with the exciting news of becoming a grandfather. Though Mr. Naemura spent some time in Japan, he might seem like a familiar face. Not only does he have a stepson at Barlow, but he has also spent the last couple of years subbing in our area at Sandy, Gresham, and Corbett high schools.

His goal for this year is to help students get caught up in Algebra and set them up for success in the coming years. Though his background displays a strong math education, Mr. Naemura is not just a math teacher. Prior to teaching, Mr. Naemura owned his own catering business in the Midwest as a professional pastry chef for over 25 years.

Pop into room 210 if you’d like to say hello, challenge him to some Japanese language, chat about some pastries, or work through a math problem together.

Our Goal

The Bruin Banner has been the cornerstone of student journalism in the Gresham-Barlow School District since 1968. This year our budget was cut and we are only able to print three issues for the school year. Your donation will support the student journalists of Sam Barlow High School. Your contribution will allow us to purchase equipment such as one more camera, lenses, printing, and cover our annual website hosting costs as well costs for field trips.
