Weeks’ worth of training from each Hashira. From learning how to build strength, handle swords, and be flexible, to being pushed to your limits. All of this means being able to fight and destroy Muzan Kibutsuji, a demon who has terrorized all of Japan with his demons. Finally, he is in the grasp of every Hashira.
Demon Slayer started as a manga made by Koyoharu Gotouge. She would write and draw the story that would be released on February 16th, 2016, and end on May 18th, 2020. Later on, Demon Slayer would be able to get an anime adaptation, animated by Studio Ufotable. The animation gets very flashy when a breathing technique is being used or when a demon is using their blood demon art. The anime’s first episode will be released on January 22nd, 2021. Now, they are ending this series with three different movies, each building up to the ending. When animating the Infinity Castle, they had 200+ animators and 40 animation directors. The movie’s scenes are at their best with its music. Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina had been making the music for the animated series for a long time, and would continue to do so for the movies.
The Movie starts right before the last episode in the Hashira Training Arc, explaining how to defeat Muzan Kibutsuji if cutting his head off doesn’t defeat him. Afterward, it cuts to where everyone is falling towards the castle, thus starting the movie. The casting uses the same voice actors from the show, with Natsuki Hanae as Tanjiro, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Inosuke, Hiro Shimono as Zenitsu, and so many more characters. Tanjiro and Zenitsu have very impactful fights throughout the movie, but have different reasons why they are fighting. Tanjiro fights Akaza because he had fought before, and Akaza had killed Rengoku, who was the flame Hashira. Zenitsu fights his adopted brother, Kaigaku. They both had trained under the Thunder Hashira Jigoro Agatsuma. The reason is that Kaigaku had become a demon, and Jigoro had done seppuku with no one there to help him, leading to a painful death. In the end, both Kaigaku and Akaza were slain.
The Infinity Castles budget was 20 million dollars, but its earnings are 648 million dollars worldwide. On IMDB, the ratings are an 8.5/10, Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 98%, Metacritic gave it a 67 Metascore, but it has a good amount of positive reviews. IvanP-172 from IMDB says, “This isn’t just a movie. It’s an experience.” Another by AbhinavK-23 says, “Expect a return of hauntingly beautiful tracks by Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina with dynamic shifts to each battle’s intensity and tone.”
An original series made on paper, then turned into animation, to a movie means it will end on a good note. Animators put in their work and time, so people can enjoy their time loving this movie. With two more movies coming out, the story will end in a flashy bang!
