The Now You See Me franchise’s third movie is now out in theatres as of November 14, 2025. This elusive and magical movie includes the Horsemen from the previous two movies, played by Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Morgan Freeman, Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Eisenberg, and Woody Harrelson, along with a new generation of magicians played by Ariana Greenblatt, Justice Smith, and Dominic Sessa. Brought together by “The Eye”, the magicians steal the world’s largest diamond from their antagonist, Veronika Vanderberg, who Rosamund Pike plays.
The movie holds countless illusions and magic tricks you wouldn’t expect, leaving even the viewers on edge. The story has so many twists and turns that you will never know what to believe until the very end as they travel across the world. Everything is not as it seems. If you blink, you’ll miss it.
The film currently has a 61% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 6.1/10 on IMDB, with many reviews ranging from good to bad. Some of their positive reviews from the audience are based on the movie’s storyline, which many highly enjoyed. One review from Carla mentions, “I liked that this movie had a storyline (and a surprise ending), however, I was a little disappointed there was not more to the ending magic trick. Adding the three new members seemed to be a good move.” Another good review from Ronnie Skinner states, “Great storyline and keeps you guessing until the very end. It still has you guessing, telling different things in a movie like this takes time and great effort. My wife and I enjoyed it.” It is pretty surprising how intricate and well-thought-out the storyline is, even though the script was written by multiple people rather than one. There are other reviews from genuine critics like Kaitlyn Booth, who named it a 7/10, stated, “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is just as breathlessly stupid, empty, yet somehow so entertaining and watchable as the first two, as this series continues to embrace spectacle over substance.”
Not all reviews of this film were positive, though. Many people believe that the movie was not as good as its predecessors. As mentioned by Heather M, “It was ok, but not as much magic nor chemistry between the characters. Almost too many things going on.” This third movie failed to meet the common factors that were the basis of the first two movies. While it held many magic tricks, they weren’t as vital or frequent. Other reviews, like one from Lisa Johnson Mandel, mention, “Too smug to be engaging, the fun and titillating magic is gone—sacrificed to the overwhelm of obvious CGI. When the audience realizes a trick couldn’t possibly be executed outside of a server farm, all sense of wonder evaporates.” The preference for their old school effects for magic is very prevalent in the reviews. The CGI used for their tricks made it look somewhat unrealistic and impossible.
Now You See Me: Now You Don’t was overall too different from the past two movies to fit in completely, yet it still brought the nostalgic feel to people’s hearts and homes with its intricate storyline and meetups of old characters.
