I don’t know about you, but I love romance movies and everything about them. However, one of the most challenging things about such an amazing genre is the fact that there are so many good movies to choose from. One of my worst habits is adding a whole bunch of movies to my watch list but never getting around to actually watching them. When you are ready to take some movies off that list, here are some that are worth your time.
Let’s start off with the high school romances. My personal favorite romance of them all is To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, which is the first of three movies. It was originally a book written by Jenny Han, which was later adapted into a film that you can watch on Netflix. If you love a little fake dating, ex-friendship drama, and love letters, then this movie is for you. Another great high school romance is A Cinderella Story, starring none other than our favorite Chad Michael Murray. In A Cinderella Story, the main character meets a guy whom she has been talking to online at her school dance; however, it is masquerade-themed, and she decides against showing him who she really is. It is truly such a cute movie. 10 Things I Hate About You is another high school romance that I believe everyone should watch. The movie is about two sisters who lead very different in-school lives. One of them wants to go out and date boys, meanwhile, the other couldn’t care less. Their dad decides that the younger sister can’t date until the older one wants to. 10 Things I Hate About You is one of my go-to movies when I have no idea what to watch. Last on the list of high school movies is She’s All That. The film came out in 1999, and I just watched it for the first time recently. I enjoyed it. The movie is silly and makes you laugh, but it also does a good job of making you invested in the characters.
Moving on to romances that are set in a place of work or in New York. Set It Up is a silly office romance that came out in 2018. Two people with very controlling bosses work in the same building, but what happens when they accidentally meet and decide they want to live a life outside of their jobs? That is for you to find out if you choose to watch the movie, which you can find on Netflix. Another really entertaining office romance is The Hating Game. The main characters are rivals who are both the best in the office and are working towards the same promotion. Trouble is, there is only room for one. Another movie that I absolutely love is How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Both the main characters are journalists who work for different companies. One girl writes “How-To” articles, and the other is a guy who works in advertising. What will she do when she has to write an article about how to lose a guy in 10 days? My final movie for office romances is Confessions of a Shopaholic. Rebecca Bloomwood is a journalist in New York who’s in some major debt and somehow gets a job writing for a financial magazine. The movie was based on the book Confessions of a Shopaholic. Both the book and movie are worth your time.
Now, movies that made me cry. Titanic is the first movie that comes to my mind for this list. It was released in 1997 and still holds the hearts of many. If you like a tragic love story that will most definitely make you burst into tears, Titanic is the film for you. Another movie I really love is My Oxford Year. I watched it as soon as it came out in 2025, and I quickly came to love the characters and the story. A college girl moves to Oxford because of her love for English literature, but life takes an unexpected turn when she falls for her professor. The Life List is another really good movie that came out in 2025 about a girl whose mom passed away. She tries to find the light that she lost in herself and somehow finds a cute guy along with it.
I hope this list has convinced you to try new movies, or at least take the ones you’ve got off the watchlist.
