October 20, 2025, was the annual Pink Out pep rally assembly. This year, the dance team and 16 staff members performed an entertaining dance to the song “It’s Tricky” by RUN DMC. The week before the assembly, the dance team and staff members took time out of their lunches and busy after-school schedules to practice the dance routine.
The team members and staff created funny memories together. Mr. Jones said, “My favorite part was learning all the different parts while making mistakes and laughing about it.” The dance team also enjoyed seeing the teachers pick up with a smile or a confused look after messing up.
Mr. Moffat said, “My favorite part was practicing with the other teachers after school and laughing a lot.” Loads of joy and laughter came out of this experience. As a dance team member walking through the halls, if I saw a teacher who was participating in the routine, they would stop and bust a few moves. It was really wonderful to see how much fun they were having with it.
Watching how serious some of the teachers were compared to others was one of the funniest parts of teaching them the routine. Team Captain Deanna Heintz highlighted Mr. Moffat as the teacher who she thought took the dance the most seriously. “He was always practicing!” Jordyn Slatosh was the one who taught Mr. Moffat the routine, and she said, “I think Mr Moffat took it so seriously, he locked in.”
Another honorable mention is Mr. Bhear! When asked why he agreed to dance with the team for the assembly, he said, “When I became principal, I promised myself that no matter the situation or circumstance, when I am asked to participate with the student body for anything or with anything school-related, I will always say yes. We as adults ask so much of students that when they ask something of me, it is my obligation to participate, no matter how far outside my comfort zone it is.” Not only that, but he said his moves are fire. When asked if the dance came naturally to him, he said, “My moves are legendary! So naturally!”
The staff not only performed for the students, but the people they work with daily. Mr. Bhear said, “It was great fun and actually easier to do it as a staff.” He referred to it as “Safety in numbers.” Mr. Jones said, “It wasn’t daunting at all, it was quite a good time.” I was shocked, but also quite happy to find that the staff felt the safety of each other’s company and really enjoyed the experience.
The Pink Out crowd loved it! Students smiled and pointed happily at their favorite staff members and those they thought were the funniest to watch. Dancing with the staff brought not only the dance team and staff joy, but it also uplifted the spirit of the crowd!
