Starbucks just introduced the holiday season on November 4th by releasing their holiday menu and merchandise. Of all the absolutely adorable merchandise options, the glass Starbucks Bearista Cup was the biggest hit. The cup was released as a limited-quantity item and blew up instantly.
The Bearista Cup was released on November 6, 2025. Outlandishly enough, the cup was also completely sold out nationwide within hours. Starbucks did not expect such high demand and was not prepared for the number of people who wanted their product. The supply of the cup was so limited that some stores only had two to five cups in stock, which were snatched up by the first few lucky individuals in the store as soon as it opened.
Because the cup was in such high demand, many people got very emotional about it. People are upset that the Bearista Cup sold out almost immediately, leading to major frustration. Many were also displeased about the limited stock, while some customers thought that the employees bought them first, leaving no more for anyone else. Another contributor to the anger of customers was the resale price; cups are being sold for up to $500, which is absolutely absurd, considering the original price was $29.95.
The drama behind the Starbucks Bearista Cups is absolutely insane! In a viral video posted by Koda_dstylist, she talks about how she and her family went to Starbucks at three o’clock in the morning to purchase the bear cups; however, as they were waiting, the manager came up and unlocked the front door to let multiple employees inside and buy their items first. By the time Koda got inside, all the Bearista Cups were sold out, and she was disappointed. This has shown to be a common theme in Starbucks shops everywhere, because each location only received two to five cups, they were selling out too fast, and usually it was the employees who got the cups first.
In addition to that, people in comment sections all over the internet have been arguing about whether or not the employees should have been allowed to buy the merchandise before the paying customers. It has gotten to the point where people who actually work at Starbucks are responding to customers’ comments and arguing their point of view. In the comment section of Conspira Tea’s video, many people were sharing their thoughts on the situation. A lady named Jessie commented, “When you work in retail, the workers get first dibs. If there’s anyone you should be mad at, it’s Starbucks.” Jessie’s comment got 21 replies from people claiming many different things, some saying employees can’t purchase items while working, and others saying that people making different claims were lying.
At the end of the day, I think the Starbucks Bearista Cup was intended to be fun but turned into a lot of drama, mainly because Starbucks was underprepared for the demand for their product. Hopefully, this is a little lesson for all of us: expect the unexpected.
