Just as we have stepped into February, the Month of Love, Breezy Johnson, an American Olympian, gets engaged to her boyfriend, Conner Watkins, as she crosses the finish line on February 12, 2026. Johnson had always shared her dream of getting engaged at the Olympics. Shortly after winning a gold medal in women’s downhill skiing, she gets proposed to. Breezy Johnson and her fiancé, Conner Watkin, have been together for over two years.
Johnson mentions how she had a feeling about what was going to happen, “I had an inkling.” She also mentioned how grateful she was to have two of the most special things to her happen so close together. She says, “It felt fitting to combine two of my loves, and it’s a special place at the Olympics. There’s a lot of mystique around it. Also, you get free photography.”
Though she had the feeling that something was going to unfold, she had been told earlier that one of her teammates was going to get engaged at the Games. “At my first Games, there was talk that one of my teammates was going to get engaged at the Olympics, and it stuck in my mind.” Expect the unexpected, even when you might not know about it, because love can sprout anywhere it wants. There have been several of these proposals to go down in Olympic history, not just by the players but also by the fans themselves. Like in the 2024 Olympics, there were nine proposals.
One of the 2024 proposals was Olympic badminton player Liu Yuchen, with his fiancée, now wife, Huang Ya Qiong, which happened right after Huang Ya Qiong won the mixed doubles gold medal. Romance blooming at the Olympics has to be one of the most romantic ways to connect with your partner and lock it in. The Olympics make it the right place for you and your special person to bond and show your passion for each other, and not just that, but the view of the game is hyping up the excitement among fans and couples. This may be why these proposals happen at such a great event.
Some people may argue that the Olympics aren’t the right place for such an event, but showing your passion at an event your partner loves is a special thing. Having the two things you love happening at the same time has to be one of the most memorable and special memories You may hear the phrase “Love has no limits” or even “Love knows no limits to its endurance, no end to its trust” from the Bible itself, explaining how even love can go to the furthest extent just for it to bloom.
