On Feb 8th, 2026, the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIX 29-13 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA. From the start, you could tell it was going to be a defensive battle between two of the best defenses.
The Seahawks Defense, AKA “The Dark Side,” got to New England’s backfield quickly, racking up 6 sacks and 8 TFL. Seattle’s defensive line clearly dominated the Patriots offensive line, only giving up 80 total rushing yards, with their leading rusher being quarterback Drake Maye. Maye had 1 fumble and 2 picks, one of which got returned for a touchdown. Seattle’s offense was not a machine, but it got the job done. Sam Darnold threw for 202 yards, 50% completion, and 1 touchdown. The biggest part of the offense was Kenneth Walker, the MVP of the game, who had 27 carries with 135 yards, averaging 5 yards per carry. The leading receiver is Cooper Kupp with 60 yards, and AJ Barner with the 1 receiver touchdown and 54 yards. The 4th quarter was definitely the most entertaining, with 30 of the 42 points in it. The people’s MVP of the game was kicker Jason Myers, totaling 17 pts, 5 field goals, and 2 points after touchdown..
They finished the season with a record of 14-3, losing to the Rams, Buccaneers, and the 49ers. The star of the team this year was Jaxon Smith-Njigba, also known as “Emerald City Route Artist”. Totalling 1,800 yards, 120 receptions, and 10 touchdowns.. These were enough to earn him the Offensive Player of the Year award. Many sportsbooks had them at about 8 to 9 wins in the preseason and 60-1 Super Bowl odds. With experts predicting 9-8 and 10-7 for the Hawks, and a pretty mediocre season.
Obviously, there’s no guarantees in the NFL, but it’s hard to imagine this team isn’t back in the Super Bowl for the next 5 years. This team is one of the youngest in the NFL, with an average age of 25. As we have seen, eventually the young guys have to be paid, but this team can do that with one of the highest Cap Space at $73 Million. The most special part is they don’t really have 2 or 3 stars taking up half the Cap Space, but have 10 really good players who are cheap.
So what can the Seahawks do to make sure they have success for years to come? First, Re-sign Kenneth Walker, Rashid Shaheed, Josh Jobe, and Coby Bryant. Second, Find THE replacement for offensive coordinator Klint Klubiak, who is headed to the Raiders. Third, Reload the “Dark Side.” Lastly, capitalize on the late and limited picks they have. Many mock drafts project them to take KC Concepcion, a wide receiver, out of Texas A&M.
So, with the long offseason ahead of us, where will the Seahawks go for an offensive coordinator, who will they re-sign, and where will they go in the draft?
