Get started with your resolutions by writing them out.
Starting the new year off on the right foot can include a wide range of things. One great way to get on the right track is by making some resolutions. New Year’s resolutions can vary, from goals to scheduling events to make this year the best one yet. Your resolutions should be personal to you and don’t have to work for everyone. Some resolutions to get you started include:
- Eating healthy: This will be different for everyone, so apply it to what makes the most sense for you.
- Cut out people who don’t benefit your life positively: This can be friends, significant others, or even certain social media platforms that are too negative.
- Spend time outdoors: Take an hour or two to unplug and enjoy the world around you.
- Improving grades: Putting your all into your schoolwork and achieving the grades you want.
- Focus on loving yourself: Practice positive affirmations and find ways to show yourself some love.
- Build new relationships: Try stepping out of your comfort zone and talking with people you wouldn’t otherwise.
- Self-advocate: Take a stand; set boundaries for yourself and the people around you.
- Start a new hobby: Find an activity you enjoy and make time to complete that activity daily.
- Save money: Dedicate a jar to put a certain amount of money in each week, and don’t touch it until the end of the year.
- Take time to see family and friends: Spend time with the ones you love and make valuable memories.
- Drink more water: Make an effort to drink at least a bottle of water a day, and track your progress.
- Journal every day: Take time to reflect on your day and things you are grateful for.
- Volunteer: Make time to volunteer at a non-profit organization and give back to your community.
- Get the sleep you need: Set alarms and set a bedtime for yourself to be sure you get the sleep you need and deserve.
- Take photos: In times that mean a lot, like going on a hike, birthday party, holiday, or even just a hangout with friends, take photos to look back on.
- Forgive others: Let go of those past grudges that aren’t relevant.
- Forgive yourself: Not everything you do will be perfect on the first go; take time to forgive yourself and grow from mistakes.
- Try a new style: Put effort into your style and try out something you normally don’t wear.
- Cook at home: Learn new and fun recipes, then cook them at home for friends and family.
- Read new books: Pick out some new books and make an effort to finish them by a deadline.
- Learn a new language: Learn a new language and practice it daily.
- Routinely clean: Make a goal to clean once a week and dedicate that day to resetting your space.
- Get rid of clothes: Clean out your closet and donate the clothes you don’t wear anymore to an organization so others can enjoy them as well.
